Pöhl Triathlon: we were there as a service station

Transition zone on the shore of the Pöhl reservoir: bikes racked side by side, competitors and spectators in bright sunshine

The Pöhl Triathlon is one of the days we look forward to all year. Around 600 competitors entered the water at the reservoir: 750 metres swimming, 20 kilometres on the bike, 5.9 kilometres running. We were there again as a service station – and there was plenty to do.

What we do on site

Adjusting gears, checking brakes, tyre pressure, a quick release here, a chain there. Time is short before the start and nerves are on edge – it helps when someone is standing there with tools and sorts out the small thing in two minutes, instead of it becoming a real problem out on the course.

The good part: you get talking to people you normally only see briefly in the shop. And you see how differently everyone approaches a day like this – from fully focused to completely relaxed.

The photos

The pictures were taken by Manuel Rohne | Photo | Bike | Fun, who captured the day for us. Thank you for that – and thank you to everyone who dropped by, cheered and made the day what it was.

See you next time.
